Special Containment Procedures: Due to Incident XXXX-1 no references to SCP-XXXX or it's documents are to be made using Metric Units of Measurement, no matter how far the reference is made from SCP-XXXX's containment site. All measurements related to SCP-XXXX and it's documents are to be conducted with the US Customary System.

SCP-XXXX is to be isolated at it's point of discovery 137 miles from ???????, South Africa. A triple layer 3x3x3ft reinforced steel case is to be secured over SCP-XXXX to limit the spread of SCP-XXXX-2 and maintenance is to be conducted on a bi-weekly basis. Personnel are to maintain a distance of at least 43.7 miles from SCP-XXXX at all times. Any civilians attempting to enter a 50 mile radius of SCP-XXXX must be turned away under the impression that they are entering a bomb testing site. Any civilians found within the 50 mile radius are to be interrogated, administered Class-B amnestics and released.

Under no circumstances are Metric Units of Measurement to be used (Including those marked on paper or objects) within a 50 mile proximity of SCP-XXXX. All on-site staff must be hired from a pool of personnel not fluent in the Metric system.


Description: SCP-XXXX is a lone Helianthus Tuberosus Sunflower baring an unnatural pattern of white and blue pigment in it's petals. Any Metric Units of Measurement used within a 50 mile radius of SCP-XXXX will trigger the object's anomalous properties. When activated, SCP-XXXX releases a large pressure wave similar to that of an explosion which travels for approximately 50 miles; permanently deafening individuals within the aforementioned radius by severely damaging the Tympanic Membrane (eardrum) and killing those within a 24.5 mile radius by disrupting the heart-beat and damaging internal organs. This pressure wave also spreads a microscopic spore referred to as SCP-XXXX-2 which causes immediate growth of new SCP-XXXX instances on the surface in which SCP-XXXX-2 has settled, disregarding the fertility of said surface (See Test Log XXXX-A). SCP-XXXX's reaction can also be triggered by making reference to SCP-XXXX or it's documents in which the Metric system is included (See Addendum XXXX-1).


Addendum XXXX-1: Incident XXXX-1 was caused when Senior Researcher: Dr. ??????? wrote the original document's containment procedures while being transported to ???????, ??? miles away from SCP-XXXX's containment area using Metric Units of Measurement. On-Site staff suffered ??? casualties including ?? deaths before Dr. ??????? was informed of the incident through radio communication and was restrained. Containment procedures revised following this incident.

Result: SCP-XXXX released the pressure wave and spread SCP-XXXX-2. The item sprouted three (3) new SCP-XXXX instances.

Item: One (1) 10lb Steel Cube
Trigger: Dr. ?????? wrote: ”SCP-XXXX is 30?? in length.” from 60 miles away.
Result: SCP-XXXX released the pressure wave and spread SCP-XXXX-2. The item sprouted seven (7) new SCP-XXXX instances.

Item: D-7305
Trigger: D-7305 falsely proclaimed that his genitalia was 57?? in length from 45 miles away.
Result: SCP-XXXX released the pressure wave and spread SCP-XXXX-2. Tympanic membrane ruptured, D-7305 deafened. Six (6) new instances of SCP-XXXX sprouted on various points of D-7305's body. Subject expressed pain and distress, subject removed for further analysis.
Note: D-7305's body became rapidly dehydrated until death occurred. An autopsy was conducted to pinpoint the cause of death. SCP-XXXX's roots absorbed the moisture of D-7305's body at a higher rate than it could be produced.
